Situated in Zhido, Freine is considered one of the few Cors in the Hollow Market that you should not, under anything less than horrendously desperate situations, fuck with. He runs a cute café officially named The Sugar Spinner, though it's rare for anyone to actually refer to it by name, as its status as one of the few truly neutral spaces within the Hollow Market make it very easy to identify even with monikers as wondrously descriptive as 'the place'.
Freine has a very specific image he puts up as a hopeful, innocent little Cor with the wish to provide those in Zhido a safe place to simply exist. While most of that is true, he is by no means innocent and has built up his spotless reputation using his ability to go full conversations without others noticing he never actually provided any information during it, as well as simply being subtle and knowing how to cover anything up well enough that it can't be connected to him. Even with how logical he is, the slight ego sometimes comes out to tease those he doesn't like about his actual personality and deeds, knowing they won't be taken seriously if they try to expose him.
With his short stature at almost half the height of a regular Corceïs as well as the short snout and sparkly pastel pink hair, Freine doesn't strike a particularly imposing figure, especially with the extra spells he keeps on to look even more innocent, the colourful smoke trailing from his horn and the glittery cupid wings at his sides giving a somewhat cherubic appearance; the only thing missing would be a halo, but he felt that would be a little too cheesy.
Usually just wears an apron when working, and the occasional accessory like a nice hat or scarf when simply out and about. Has a nice suit for fancy occasions.
Backstory
Born in Zhido, raised there too. Although 'raised' is a strong term since they didn't really have anyone to guide them, becoming an orphan very soon after hitting the ripe old age of three years. Survived by stealing and being fast and sneaky enough to get away with it. Constantly practiced with magic from the moment they could channel even a hint of it through their horn, having nearly developed crystallization multiple times, but always stopping just before that point.
Has wanted to run a café since he was young, as he always loved the baked goods and warm drinks he managed to swipe, and wanted to make his own. The neutral space idea only came later once he decided to write out a business plan and figured that the idea wouldn't work unless he gets a customer base consisting of more than one crime family- as big as those are, they would eventually stop being profitable. Worked hard setting himself up with proper funds while making sure to owe no debt or loyalty to any one group, travelling to other areas of Postinen, performing magical feats and working odd jobs for funds... which were mainly to be used for bribes. What? You thought Freine actually bought a whole goddamn building along with everything else needed for a business in Zhido legitimately?
After a lot of blood, sweat, tears and even more blood, most of which wasn't Freine's, The Sugar Spinner has been open for two years, and it's going great! There's a consistent customer base and Freine's bodyguard has become far less necessary.
Relationships
One of The Sugar Spinner's most consistent customers, often stopping by after his fights, sometimes with Nala and Oberon.
Freine's significant other. Merlot was a regular at the café and they both caught feelings for each other, eventually getting together after Freine blurted out a confession then promptly fled to the storage room in embarrassment. He's still amazed that somehow worked.
